In 2007 Van Halen was inducted to rock and roll hall of fame.
According to lead vocalist David Lee Roth it was his idea to name the band Van Halen and he actually named it after the drummer Alex Van Halen.
At first, Eddie played drums and Alex guitars. Later, Alex got interested with the drums and Eddie with the guitar.
Van Halen is the 19th best-selling band/artist of all time with sales of over 56 million albums in the United States alone, and is one of five rock bands that have had two albums sell more than 10 million copies in the U.S. In 1999, the RIAA certified their debut album diamond for ten million in U.S. sales.
Several Van Halen songs are featured on the Playstation 2 game Guitar Hero: Van Halen.
Alex Van Halen is the oldest band member.
Van Halen and 1984 are only two Van Halen albums that went diamond internationally.
Eddie Van Halen appeared on the TV serie Two And A Half Men.
Eddie Van Halen contributed the filling guitar solo to the Michael Jackson smash hit "Beat It" in 1982.
In 2008, Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar opened a restaurant in Missouri. The joint is called "Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill", which will replace the Moby's Fish Tales restaurant in the Harrah's casino in Maryland Heights.
Guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen are brothers.
